So here is the update: Tampa Bay has ghosted since accepting this trade, after a week or so Miami finally got in contact with him and all he said was multiple teams messaged him that it was a horrible trade...nothing else I have tried to contact him wanting to still work out a deal and wanting him to send me an offer of any kind, yet he has still not responded. The intent of these rules "to accept a trade" was so we make sure both parties are aware and happy with what they are accepting. Not so other teams can bitch and then the trade not going through. Maybe this wasnt the intent of what has happened, but if it becomes apparent that is what is happening, the rules will be changed immediately. As to this current deal. It will remain in limbo until Tampa resurfaces or I decide to cut the deal for good ___ While I think a better deal could be had for Khris Davis, this presents a fundamental problem. You posted a deal, and for whatever reason, real life gets involved with people and we don't log in for 24 hours to accept the trade. When an owner logs into the site, they get a ton of feedback saying that its a bad deal, a better offer could be had (or an offer in the PM), etc. I'm not sure if this has happened before, but if it has, maybe we need to go to both parties PMing the commissioner as accepting, and the trade gets posted once both parties accept it. We need to watch out that teams aren't decimated by dumb trades for the future of the league, but for an owner who has been here for a while, we don't need to babysit them. Or....maybe there is some punishment for welching on a deal. Maybe Khris Davis gets a one year NTC? Maybe the owner gets a one month trade/waiver restriction. Yeah me and Miami have been trying to figure out what to do. It's an interesting delima that has many different complex issues and circumstances that need to be navigated. I do like possibly having to PM or text myself or Miami the trade with your reasoning and then we post on the board the trade...possible issue is some teams send offers through Fantrax and that can be seen by all once accepted before posting on the board. I've thought about the players or assets involved are frozen for a month (trade wise) if you back out as well for any reason. Makes people be sure before saying yes possibly

Miami's view on this was "As a league we must ensure that both sides of deals are happy and approving of the deal, otherwise the league will become unenjoyable for everyone. First and foremost the league is a place for fun and enjoyment. We all do take fantasy baseball a little too serious at times but we all love it, otherwise we wouldn't be here." Let's not do the "hey let's give team A a free pass to get out of a trade, but we will punish team B for backing out of a trade" circus.
I believe we could do away with the posting trade analysis requirement because it really doesn't add any value and start enforcing the top 100 ADP on trade block rule, since it's did receive enough voting. If this is enforced, trading will become more competitive and teams should get better offers for their players and we would not run into issues like this going forward.

I'm in need of some sort of closer.
I am willing to part with my next few draft picks for a decent offer.

Had a deal breakdown with Detroit. Here are my thoughts on the discussions, this will be pretty frank and direct. Here we go...
I inquired Detroit about trading for a position player prospect of theirs. Leading up to the last FYPD and in my fight for the first overall pick, I was very torn between his player and the player that I ended up selecting but I got a guy that I will very good about at #2 overall, who might be a better player and a more valuable asset going forward due to his offensive potential at a position that is devoid of offensive skill but I’m still very high on the player Detroit selected who’s going to MASH.
A week or two ago, I sent Detroit an offer where I sent him a young pitcher of mine for that player. My angle to him was that you can nab this pitcher of mine for your team, who’s still far away, more so than my team and still nab another feared slugger at 1-1 in the draft, who’s name rhymes with Forkelson. Good angle, I thought it was a good angle to make.
The player that I offered is pretty similarly ranked to Det’s player. They’re similarly ranked across all prospect rankings and dynasty rankings. It’s a fair deal for both sides, which is the best deal to make. IIRC, I sent another version of the deal that involved a top 100 prospect (my team sucks and I have a few of those) for a reliever of his that’s also a top 100 prospect.
I will say that I did try to trade up in the draft from 2 to 1 to nab the player. I was willing to overpay to do so but Det declined because he wanted his guy. Detroit is making it seem like I was going after this player for months but that’s not true, if my memory is correct. I’ve sent a lot of offers out, it’s hard to keep track.
I didn’t get a response right away so I had to contact another owner to get in contact with him. Why do we always have to do this for DET? I know we have jobs, I know we have other responsibilities, and that we have families. I know some of have kids. I’m also aware of the fact that the theres a pandemic and that there’s bigger things to worry about in the world than fantasy baseball but why do teams have to contact one owner to get in contact with this guy? I feel bad when I have to contact that owner to get in contact with DET.
So, I was able to finally get in contact with Detroit and he responded. I brought up my untouchables and then he countered with a new deal. That involved new players. We wanted a young pitcher I got in the DD, a SS prospect that I have and another prospect for this slugger and reliever. The deal involved new players, so I had to do some research. I wasn’t anticipating losing this pitcher, despite not listing him as an untouchable so I wanted to do some due diligence. All normal but this is Detroit, he’s a moron and things went somewhere not normal.
Making counters to deals and doing research is a part of negotiating. There’s a back and forth but every time that I tried to engage that back and forth, he said asked why I was changing the deal. Like what the fuck? You countered with players that I didn’t originally include in the deal and I can’t do the same for some reason.
He kept trying to pressure me into making this deal by saying that I’ve gone after these players for months and I have, I’ll admit that but not in the context of the counter that he proposed. He wanted Zac Gallen, Tarik Skubal, and Jordan Groshans for Andrew Vaughn and Brudasor Graterol. The Gallen for Vaughn bit doesn’t surprise me and it’s actually pretty fair but the other two pieces I was giving up in his proposal outweighed his second piece. Like I told him via text, I’M NOT GOING TO FUCK MY OWN TEAM TO MAKE HIS BETTER.
I’ve been rebuilding for two and a half years now. I’m trying to competitive relatively soon in the next two seasons, when all my top prospects should be up in the bigs. I timed this really well.
Another thing that gave me pause was losing Gallen....
Fuck the coyness, I’m naming names....
Another thing that gave me pause was losing Gallen and Skubal. My team is light on pitching and losing both players could considerably set me back BIG TIME, so I needed to think about it.
After some discussion, Detroit countered with his Vaughn/Graterol for my Gallen/Skubal. This counter was better than his last because I’m no longer giving him a third piece, when my assets on a whole are better than his but it still didn’t ease my concerns of losing two pitchers with top of the rotation type stuff. I let him know that I was at a cookout yesterday and that I’d get back to him.
I told Detroit today that I was researching the next 2 or three draft classes to see if I could really afford to lose Gallen/Skubal at this point in time. He responded with: “You approached me for a while man. It’s really your deal to make. You’ve told me who was untouchable and then changed that in a matter of an hour lol. Then you yourself proposed the 2-2 and now your dragging feets. What’s the deal bruh?”
I responded: “Again, Gallen isn’t untouchable. I’m just trying to make sure I’m not fucking myself. All the moves I’ve been making have been geared to be competing in 2 years. My team is LIGHT on pitching, I’m just trying to make sure I can fill that void.”
I told him that I’m not feeling Graterol in a second piece in that deal. I reminded him that the deal has changed since my original offer that I first made and has expanded into other players. He responded: “Check the time stamp you fucking prick. You chased me for this deal. Not the other way around. Like to the point of text message harassment. And you bitch like a girl when I call you out on moving your goal line and replacing players? 😂“
I wouldn’t have to text him so much, if he answered his fucking messages. He’s totally unresponsive here on the forum and on his text messages. Like I said, I have to get in contact with another owner just to get his attention.
Obviously the deal fell through at that point.
A bigger clown than the Insane Clown Posse.
