The thoughts can be about -Why you are acquiring the players you are - Castillo provides holds and I think they are hard to come by consistantly. I have Jansen to be competive weekly with saves. -Why you are trading the players you are - got to give to get. Minter is what PIT needed and Castillo is what I needed. -How you think this trade makes your team better in the short term or the long term - Gets me a solid hold contributer and brings back a pick. -Thoughts on the players involved in the trade - PIT wanted TRo and I was inpatient waiting for him to hit. I still think he'll end up solid but I can play Castillo at SP and start all my RP. -Thoughts on the fairness of the trade - seems fair to me. -Thoughts on the values both teams are receiving - both are getting what they need. -etc.

Trade with St.Louis---Castillo, 3rd for Minter/Rostenthal
-Why you are acquiring the players you are? Minter is closing for Atlanta and as backup he could get holds -Why you are trading the players you are? Castillo was the value to get value. I consider Castillo/Minter similar -How you think this trade makes your team better in the short term or the long term? It may not, UNLESS lottery ticket Rosenthal finds his game. At worst I think this will be a draw. -Thoughts on the players involved in the trade? Rostenthal is comedy right now, but has high impact arm as do Castillo and Minter. It's a lot of juice being traded. -Thoughts on the fairness of the trade? Completely fair. St.Louis wanted a 2 at first, but he was willing to go 3 -Thoughts on the values both teams are receiving? He wanted a setup guy, I wanted another back end guy. I am trying to cover all bases. -etc.

Trade analysis on the Houston Deal.
I get Jordan Hicks-RP And Austin Riley-3B prospect, 6th round for SP prospect Griffin Canning SP/RP prospect DL Hall 2B prospect Jahmai Jones 3rd round pick
This was not an easy deal. I am very high a couple of those guys I traded. But what did I get? A 22 year old closer, flame thrower for a good team. Adding him to a mix of Josh Hader, AJ Minter solidifies the backend of my pen. IF David Robertson figures it out then my pen becomes a true asset.
Austin Riley-I needed to start looking at 3B. Ryan McMahon may lose 3B eligibility next year with Nolan taking all the starts, and I don't really have a power masher in my system. Lots of good 'hit tool' guys but no one with elite power. Riley has that. He's a good defensive player too.
I gave up? Griffin Canning-should be in the Majors this year. This one hurt. Four pitches, durable, sturdy, middle rotation type. I had to pay to play DL Hall-Got from Cubbies. A ball big arm, and Houston is banking on potential. His control scares me. At worst I think you're looking at a lefty setup closer. But I have doubts about his future as a starter. Jahmai Jones-This is the other one that hurt. Now Jones has been TERRIBLE since moving to AA, but his athleticism and work ethic is without peer. Again, he's talented, but the trajectory is just so slow right now and I needed to strike at one of the few closers that was available. The 3rd is a high 3rd and Houston has a ton of picks coming up. WATCH this team going forward, he's building a power.
This trade I hope will push my pitching staff forward. I have started off blazing, but that DESPITE terrible pitching. Snell injured, heaney injured, Robertson, Kelly and EVEN HADER not pitching well. But my starters like Strah, ERod and Weaver are settling down, Snell is due back soon and heaney seems to be progressing in his recovery. The bullpen was the last piece.
My hitting WILL regress. But I still think it will be good enough to make a run to the playoffs with better pitching, which I think I now have.

2 mid round picks 2020 4th and 2021 3rd for a platoon OF an ok 32 year old SP...gives my team some depth if it gets healthy and allows for a potential run at the playoffs this year...maybe lmao. Dont need the picks so it was worth the swap imo

The thoughts can be about -Why you are acquiring the players you are - needed OF depth -Why you are trading the players you are - SD is looking for pitching that is close to MLB -How you think this trade makes your team better in the short term or the long term - Puig replacement as well as a pick -Thoughts on the players involved in the trade - Lets hope Pence keeps it up. Irvin and King should be solid options. -Thoughts on the fairness of the trade - Basically a swap of two semi recent waiver pickups and then a prospects and pick swap. Fair to me. -Thoughts on the values both teams are receiving - Even -etc.

The thoughts can be about -Why you are acquiring the players you are - wasnt loving having to worry about starting my RP. Anderson was one of my better ones but Otto is having a great year. -Why you are trading the players you are - CWS wanted 3rd and DJLM. I would have rather kept him but fair deal. -How you think this trade makes your team better in the short term or the long term - sure up my RP -Thoughts on the players involved in the trade - Lets hope Pence keeps it up. Irvin and King should be solid options. -Thoughts on the fairness of the trade - Otto and DJLM are similarly old but productive. Anderson and Benson even out the deal -Thoughts on the values both teams are receiving - Even -etc.
