From a fantasy perspective I'm not too worried. His hit and power combo are pretty much 1 of the tops all time. An 80 hit is just insane. With his plate decipline and ability to hit the ball, I think he could be in the Majors now at 19. The one thing that will take a bit to develop is his in game power. He basically just accidentally hits homeruns right now. Even his teammates say if he ever learns how to hit homeruns/power he will be just so freaking awesome. From a RL perspective, I hope they stick with 1 position and get his bat to the Majors because the Jays need some talented youth. Him and "player name redacted" are the best offensive combo prospects I have seen in a while. Good time to be a Jays fan....once they make the Majors lol. I thought BA and Fangraphs had him at 70 and 65 hit ceiling, respectively? Edit: Fangraphs has him at 60 ceiling for hit tool. Baseball America now has Vlad Jr at 80 Hit and 70 power.

I looked hard at him but the partially torn UCL (12-15 month recovery when it inevitably goes) and the likelihood that he won’t get more than 150 innings and/or 200 plate appearances in the next couple of seasons pushed him down my board a bit.

I like the Freeman comparison. Freeman was an athletic guy with a 75-80 hit tool that got too big (and was a bit lacking in agility) to stick at 3B (though he was forced back there last year). You’d have to feel pretty good if Vlad Jr. turns out as well as Freeman has.

I was really torn between Devers, Severino, and Kluber Really was hoping for Severino to fall to me... And Devers was my plan B at 2.7. Oh well, Yelich is a nice consolation prize.

Did I reach far for Happ?
I was worried in another 30 picks he may have been gone

Did I reach far for Happ? I was worried in another 30 picks he may have been gone IMO? I think you might have reached a little, only because the Cubs still have to play Zobrist, Baez, and Almora - so he may not be a full time player. But with the way this draft has gone, he very well could have been taken by someone. His bat is legit though, you just might not see the results right away.

I have seen things projecting him at 150 games and others at 120. I loved his position versatility though

KC with 4-18 selects Jake Arrieta Tex is on the clock He is gonna be solid this year. His stuff is flat out nasty, and if he lands someplace like LAD or NYY, maybe even Twins or Brewers, could be a 2nd round value.

What about Seattle? Good park to pitch in, not sure if they're in the market but I always thought that would be a good match.

How long do we let Braves hold up the draft because they didn’t want to look at the picks just before him to see Weaver taken? Pace looks decent and then we have a huge speed bump. Didn’t we message our numbers and contact info to expedite this thing?
