Sorry if this is addressed somewhere already. I have all 6 of my draft picks for the 2019 NPD. My roster already has 41 guys on it (due to DL). At what point do I have to get to a 40 man roster? Do I have to get down to 34 before the draft if I want to make all 6 picks? Thanks My view on this Arizona is you must have the open spots on your roster to make the picks. It was like last year's NPD, some of us had already made all our picks when the final round came around due to trades and what-not, so when that final pick came up, the owner could NOT take a -26th or a 16th in the minors draft case- player. And take this for what it's worth: About two weeks ago I had Kelvin Herrara, Kevin Kiermair, Dansby Swanson, and Garrett Cooper all listed with an IR red flag by their name. Today? Only Herrara is showing IR red flag, THUS injured reserve eligibility (which would open up another spot if I were to chose it). So it's possible you have some players on IR right now, but they may lose that IR status at any point up to the draft so it seems. So watch that. Also, I have 5 roster spots open on my Minor League system, but have 6 NPD picks. Like you I'd like to use all 6, but I am prepared for the possibility that I won't be able should I not have a player I can stash on IR (or a cut). I think the time leading up to the NPD draft is going to be interesting as owners try to clean up their rosters, something I know a few of us (myself included) have tried to do over the past few weeks. I didn't want to get to the day before the draft and have too many prospects/picks for not enough spots. So right now my team is set and I won't move a guy to IR until the day before the draft just to make sure. If I make a draft to fill that spot and that player comes off IR after I draft I'll just have an illegal roster during spring training, which may not be an issue (unless I want to pick up a free agent I guess). The illegal roster thing becomes a problem when you start setting your lineups. Lots of things to consider.

So if you go in with only 5 spots and there's someone you like better sitting there at your 6th pick you can drop a player and draft your 6th pick. They did say rosters need to be legal before the NPD though.

Lots of moving parts with that option as well as the IR flag option, which is proving to be precarious. So why did 3 of my guys all of a sudden become activated? Very bizarre. Not that it matters, they are all on my active roster, but for those planning to use IR as a 'stash' best pay attention.

Thanks As long as the roster is legal (IR spots) you can have more than 40 total, but probably come the 2nd week of Jan you will need to have a legal roster (no duplicate positions, healthy players on the IR, etc). Only exception will probably be MiLB players who dont have a green flag but are MiLB players (dont know how some lose the flag without ever debuting) You dont have to drop players before the draft. As of now we are planning on just having you pick up the player you draft which will result in you needing to use 1 of your 40 man spots on each pick

Appreciate the responses. Personally I don't think anyone should be eligible for the IR in the off season. I guess if it is someone you know will be out all next year. So if I want to take someone in the NPD, I'll have to drop someone or have an open slot on my 40 man.

Since this league mirrors MLB, do we add a 26th mlb player for 2020?

Question for the mods, What happens if one of our players dies? Will the owner of the deceased player be compensated?

To make sure it doesnt completely hurt an owner Compensation will most likely be the form of draft pick/picks
