SFG sends: Zach Plesac, SP Jay Groome, SP CWS sends: Yasiel Puig, RF my annual trade i don't need to do that could come back to bury me (please refer to the 2019 case of Woodruff v. Barreto and the 2018's Benintendi for May (ouch), Kopech (oof), Lux (oh no), and Lambert). I expect Mancini to be out for the year and wanted a replacement. Puig could either be a 20/15 guy or play in Japan the rest of his career. There are reasons to believe in both Plesac and Groome but you all know I hate pitchers with the fire of a thousand suns. confirmed!

Pirates trade C-Andrew Knizner SP/RP-Jimmy Nelson 2022- 2nd round pick to Tampa Bay for 2021-First (via Chicago White Sox) 2021-Third (via Milwaukee Brewers) Saw TB trade block for catcher and figured maybe I could restock 2021 picks and with Mejia coming on board I had depth at catcher and was willing to move Knizner. Nelson was part of the awful trade I made with LAD where I gave him rising elite prospect Skubal and Naylor for pieces and farts. I honestly like Nelson, but every time I see his name it just pisses me off so glad to get him moved up the road although him moving to the bullpen actually HELPED me though I don't think moving either A.K. or Nelson will be the cause of me NOT making the playoffs.
Accepted in Fantrax.

^ Trade accepted. I got short term help (Ginkel, Alberto) and long term potential (Morejon, Suarez). Moving Wright was not easy given how close he is to potentially being a Major League SP, but the package I got back was very enticing so I made the trade.

The Pirates and Twins have hooked up on a trade.
Minnesota Twins acquire: CF Prospect Jaren Duran of the Boston Red Sox, ranked in the 6-10 range in the Sox system
Pittsburgh Pirates acquire: 1B Prospect Mason Martin of the Pittsburgh Pirates, ranked somewhere between 15-20 in the Pirates system 2022 2nd round draft pick
This trade fits my model of adding lower minors projectable player. Martin has some contact issues, but has elite power and very good walk rates. It's a gamble, but I wanted a 1B prospect to see if he'd develop. I stock a 2nd rounder as well.
Duran heads to the Twins. Love this guys ++ speed and he's certainly become a rising prospect, but I have a couple guys similar to him I like.

Trade confirmed. Duran has the potential to fill multiple needs for us, including speed. Throwing in the draft pick is worth the prospect upgrade for us.

This is a speculative trade for both Twins and Pirates. I expect Duran to hit the majors a good two years before Martin, but that is fine since I am overloaded with upper minors guys anyway.

Restructuring my farm continues. Pittsburgh Pirates and Tampa Bay Rays have completed a deal. None of these players require placement on the Mandatory Trade Block. Shout out to Tampa Bay for being so cool to deal with. And I didn't mention it in my previous post, but ditto that for the Twins group as well, great guys to do business with. We need more owners like this.
Rays acquire: SP/RP prospect Drew Rasmussen from the Brewers organization, ranked 8-11 in their system SP prospect Ashton Gaudeau of the Colorado Rockies, ranked 13-18 in their system 2B/3B prospect Travis Blankenhorn of Minnesota, ranked 15-20 in their system
For 3B Ryan Vilade of the Colorado Rockies, ranked 3-5 in their system CF Gilberto Celestino of the Minnesota Twins, ranked 15-20 in their system
Ok, I am done trading AAA players for A+ players. I get two players who finished in A+ last year, both are pushing on the AA door. Vilade is very interesting and would be more so if they left him at SS, but it looks like he’s moving to 3B, or maybe LF. The hit tool, power and speed intrigue me. Celestino is a brilliant defensive player and started to show some offensive skill last year. He fits the mold of exactly what I want, a low minors guy who appears to be developing. In the field he’s a freak. His offensive game will determine his true upside and that’s TBD.
Gave up a power arm in Rasmussen, he has the stuff to start but Rays and I agree he likely plays to the pen. If he does end up starting and show the durability to do so, look out, he has great stuff. Moved solid prospect Travis Blankenhorn, he is a good hitter, versatile, and is now in AAA. Also moved Rockies prospect Ashton Gaudeau, a late bloomer. I had the depth to move two pitchers in this 3 for 2 trade where I didn’t get a pitcher back.
